MapStash ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Expera Pty Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the MapStash mobile application ("the App").
By using MapStash, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Links and content you submit. When you paste a link into MapStash, we process that URL and its associated content (such as video transcripts, post text, and metadata) to extract location information. The original social media content is processed transiently and is not stored — only the extracted location data is saved to your account.
Survey responses. If you choose to respond to optional in-app surveys (such as during onboarding), we collect those responses to improve the product.
Information Collected Automatically
Anonymous identifiers. We use anonymous authentication. We generate a random identifier for your account — we do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal identity information.
Analytics data. We collect anonymised usage data such as which features you use, screen views, and app performance metrics. This data is used to improve the App and is not tied to any personal identity.
Error and crash data. We collect technical error reports (such as crash logs and stack traces) to identify and fix bugs.
Subscription data. If you purchase a subscription or lifetime access, your payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your purchase status (active, expired, etc.) but never see or store your payment details, credit card number, or Apple ID.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your name, phone number, or physical address.
We do not collect or store your social media account credentials or login tokens.
We do not access your social media accounts. We only process the specific links you paste into the App.
We do not collect precise device location or GPS data.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Extract locations from links you submit and display them on your personal map.
Process payments and manage your subscription status.
Understand how the App is used so we can improve it.
Identify and fix technical issues and bugs.
Respond to user feedback and support requests.
3. Third-Party Services
MapStash uses third-party services to operate. These include:
Apple App Store — Payment processing for subscriptions and purchases.
Google Maps Platform — Geocoding and place data. Privacy Policy
We also use third-party services for cloud database and storage, subscription management, analytics, error reporting, and AI-powered location extraction. These services receive only the minimum data necessary to perform their function. Submitted link content is processed transiently for the purpose of location extraction and is not used by these providers to train their models.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
4. International Data Transfers
MapStash is operated from Australia. Your data is primarily stored on servers located in Australia (Sydney region). Some of our third-party service providers (including those listed in Section 3) are based in the United States or other countries, which means certain data — such as anonymised analytics events, crash reports, and the content of links you submit for processing — may be transferred to and processed in those countries. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle your information in a manner consistent with this policy and with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your saved locations and map data are stored on secure cloud servers. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account exists. Because MapStash uses anonymous authentication, your account is tied to your device installation. If you reinstall the App or switch devices without first taking action, your anonymous identifier will be lost and your data may become inaccessible.
Deleting your account from within the App
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App:
Open MapStash → Settings → Account → Delete account.
When you confirm deletion, we permanently remove your account and all data associated with it — including saved locations, collections, trips, import history, survey responses, and subscription records — from our active systems. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.
Routine backups of our database may retain copies of deleted data for up to 30 days before being overwritten in the normal course of operations.
Cancelling subscriptions
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription. To cancel a subscription, manage it in your iPhone's Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions. Lifetime purchases are forfeited when you delete your account and cannot be transferred to a new account.
Other deletion requests
If you are unable to use the in-app deletion flow, you can request deletion by emailing us at the address in Section 9. We will action your request within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
MapStash is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
